Several changes will come into effect on June 1 or during the month. For example, the last Corona measures expire in this country, stricter penalties for e-scooter drivers are coming, a discounter is starting a 50 percent special sale, electricity customers should compare prices again, and the festival season is beginning—an overview of the most important innovations.
➤ As of June 30, Covid-19 is no longer a notifiable disease. Specifically, this means, above all, the end of the so-called traffic restrictions. Currently, Covid-positive individuals still have to adhere to rules for ten days. During this time, affected persons are allowed to leave the house but are restricted in their activities. After five days, there is the possibility of “clearing” oneself using a PCR test. All this will be dropped in the summer – everyone will decide how to behave in the event of illness.
At the end of June, all legal changes related to Covid will be repealed – such as the Covid-19 Measures Act, all Corona-related ordinances and changes in the Epidemic Act (mask requirement, vaccination centers, etc.). On May 31, the issuance of living room tests in pharmacies ended.
➤ Under the motto “Everything must go,” there will be a 50 percent special sale of numerous non-food items in selected Hofer stores in Vienna and Lower Austria from June 1.
“Whether for the household, the garden, for sports or simply for entertainment – with the wide selection, there is something for everyone. The special offers range from cleaning equipment and furniture to tools for the garden and sports equipment,” says the company – admittedly while stocks last.
➤ The trial period ends on June 1. From then on, operators of rental e-scooters in Vienna will be subject to stricter rules. Parking on the sidewalk, for example, is prohibited. The scooters must be parked in fixed rental or parking areas. Parking is no longer permitted within a radius of 100 meters around these parking areas. Parking sheriffs monitor compliance with the new rules.
➤ Users of Windows 10 version 21H2 will no longer receive support as of June 13. This also means there will no longer be any security updates for the software. Version 22H2 is thus the last version of Windows 10 that will still be provided with security updates. Here, the support will expire in October 2025.
➤ Since March, the employee tax assessment, also known as “wage tax equalization,” can be submitted for the past year to get a lot of money back from the tax office. This can be submitted manually or wait for the automatic settlement in July. The latter, however, brings on average about 500 euros less money than the manual submission (on average 277 euros or 714 euros).
The written deadline has passed, but the tax settlement can still be submitted online until June 30.
